I was really impressed with Orangeleaf frozen yogurt today. This is a brand-new building in front of the Walmart in Mason city. When I walked in I was greeted immediately with a welcome to Orange leaf. The girl asked me if I'd ever been there before and if I knew what I was doing. I thought this was a very good thing because unless you been to a frozen yogurt place you might not know where to begin. They had two sizes of cups. Big and bigger. I took the big one but didn't fill it up all the way. Their machines were different than I'd ever seen before. Each machine holds two flavors of frozen yogurt. There is a spout for each flavor and then a spout in the middle that will give you both flavors like in a twist. Which is good if you want those two flavors together. They have lots of different flavors I never seen before. Pineapple, pink lemonade, strawberry banana smoothie, pomegranate and some that I've seen before such as cookies and cream and salted Caramell. They didn't have any coffee flavors which made me sad. They had more fruit flavors than they did chocolate and non-fruit flavors. I got brownie batter and cheese cake. The frozen yogurt itself was wonderful. It was more frozen then lots of other frozen yogurt places so I reminded me more of softserve ice cream. The flavor was great. They have lots of the standard toppings that you see at most frozen yogurt places. Nothing that really stood out that told me wow that's really cool. The place itself was decorated really nicely. They had cool custom chairs that were obviously made just for that franchise. They also have their own loyalty card. I didn't ask much about it or sign up for it since we do not have one of these where I live. Although I'm sure sometime when I'm in Mason city again I will stop back. What would've made this a five-star experience would have been more non-fruit flavors of yogurt. I'm a huge fan of the chocolate toppings and candy toppings and they just don't pair well with the sweet fruit flavors. Also I thought the choices of toppings were pretty standard and there wasn't anything that made it exceptional.
